Bhopal : Lecturer of a Change Leader will be held at the Atal Behari Vajpayee Institute of Good Governance and Policy Analysis every month. The lecture will be titled ‘Transformative Change, Sustainable Outcomes’. Director General of the Institute Shri R. Parshuram gave this information at the first lecture on ‘Issues and Challenges in Implementing Swachh Bharat Mission: The Indore Experience’. Director, Swachh Bharat Mission, Shri Manish Singh gave the lecture. Shri Parshuram said that changing the thinking and mindset of the people in any public work is a big challenge. The one, who succeeds in it, is the change leader. He said that process is equally important like the results. Shri Parshuram said that the institute is working in different areas along with the analysis of the public policy of various departments. The experiences of the Change Leader will help us in these tasks.
With everyone’s help, Indore became country’s cleanest city
Director, Swachh Bharat Mission and former Municipal Commissioner, Indore, Shri Manish Singh, said that Indore became country’s cleanest city with the assistance of all sections of the society including public representatives, police administration and media. He said that conditions were totally unfavourable in 2015. The Mayor and all the people’s representatives resolved to make the city bin free, litter free and dust free. Well-planned action was taken to fulfill the resolution. Cart and equipments were purchased in the municipal corporation. Dedicated employees were encouraged and negligent employees were punished.
Spot fine of up to Rs one lakh
Shri Singh told that collection of garbage from door-to-door was started followed by its segregation. Fines were imposed on those who throw garbage on the road. Spot fine from Rs 100 to Rs one lakh was imposed. Action was taken against big hotels. A Nagar Nigam Swachhata app was created. Prompt action was ensured on complaints received on Helpline no. -311. This increased the confidence of the citizens on the Municipal Corporation and they came forward to cooperate. Sanitation workers and their families were treated free of charge. Drivers were felicitated. Mechanized road sweeping began. GPS monitoring was conducted zone-wise. Bio-Methanation Plant, Organic Waste Converter, Plastic Waste Processing Unit and Plastic to Diesel Plants were set up in the city. Parks were developed at the old garbage collection sites. Cleanliness committees were formed in all schools. Kanha and Saraswati river were cleaned. Shri Singh said that he himself used to tour the city every morning at 5. He also gave information about the works done through a film. Shri Singh answered the questions of the audience. Advisor of the Institute, Shri Girish Sharma, conducted the programme. Advisor Shri M.M. Upadhyay and Shri Tyagi were also present.
