- Sheikh is the only Indian police officer to be awarded this award
Raipur. Senior Superintendent of Police Arif H Sheikh of Raipur, the capital of Chhattisgarh, has been awarded the prestigious 40 Under 40 Award of the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP). He is the only Indian police officer to receive this award. The award has been given for strengthening the functioning of policing through campaigns related to social concerns. Police Officer Arif H Sheikh was awarded the award by the International Association of Chiefs of Police Organizations of the United States of America at a ceremony in Chicago. The headquarters of the International Association of Chiefs of Police is in Alexandria United States. This award is given to such police officers under the age of 40 who have brought changes in policing through new experiments and good works. Arif was conferred with 40 police officers from seven countries. Arif has done many notable works in improving the image of the police during the last 5 years while being the Superintendent of Police in Balod, Bastar, Bilaspur and Raipur districts of Chhattisgarh. She had launched the Navodaya Abhiyan for women empowerment in Balod and Amcho Bastar Amcho Police in Bastar, Samvedna and Rakhi with Khaki in Bilaspur. This campaign of tying rakhi to policemen by women and girls on Rakshabandhan festival was much appreciated.
Arif worked to improve the image of the police
Recently, Mission E-Raksha in Raipur was also run under the guidance of Senior Superintendent of Police Arif H Sheikh. Along with this, by running every head helmet campaign, he had distributed helmets to two-wheelers in large numbers with the help of civilians. This expedition has also been recorded in the Guinness and Limca Book of World Records. Arif H Sheikh has previously been awarded two prestigious awards by Security Watch India, FICCI and IACP for better policing. The International Association of Chiefs of Police is an organization that awards police officers who perform well in the field of policing around the world.
